Buses From Quinta da Fajã to Funchal.

Bus nº 7 goes from Rua da Boa Nova outside our front gate (100 m) almost every hour in early morning and late afternoon,  less often on other times of the day and Saturday Sunday - timetable. It is operated by the bus company Horários do Funchal that has websites in English,  German and in Portuguese. You can find timetables, maps and information about all their different tickets there. If you buy a ticket for several days from them please note that Horários do Funchal buses are only operating within Funchal and a couple of nearby villages. Their ticket  are neither valid on other bus companies  like Rodeste or SAM buses etc., nor on Horários do Funchal buses going to comparatively close places like Camacha.

There are more frequent buses on Estrada da Boa Nova 5 min walk downhill or 5 min uphill to Estrada da Camacha (better for return journey).  The bus to Funchal costs about 1,90 euro if you pay on the bus, 1,25 euro if you buy prepaid tickets. One week costs 21 euro.

Taxis are not so expensive, about 12 euro to the house from town centre, 30 euro to/from airport, 60 euro for half day trip and 120 euro all day. So you can get by without renting a car.  For car rental we have a special page. Read more about car rental.
